The city of Troy has renamed a street in memory of a beloved resident.

Second Street between Division and Liberty streets will now be known as Jim Conroy Way.

Conroy, a former deputy mayor and community leader, died earlier this year.

“He fought really hard at the end,” said Jacqueline O’Donnell, a friend of Conroy.
He suffered from cancer. He was misdiagnosed. He forgave the physician. We were all so mad, but he forgave them. And in these days with everyone and how angry everyone is to show that kind of grace, it’s a life lesson that I will – I have already started using in my own life.”

The council approved a resolution to rename this section of road.
