Columbia County woman gets 20 years in prison for firing at police
A Columbia County woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for firing a gun at a State Police sergeant.
Madison A. Kreutzer, 38, of Livingston, was found guilty at trial in August of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and prohibitions on the use and possession a firearm.
The incident happened in 2020 in the town of Gallatin. State Police responded to a home for a report of a suspect holding a gun. Two housekeepers and two landscapers were also on the property.
When a police sergeant approached the home, Kreutzer fired at least two shots, according to the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office. She then went back into the home and surrendered after negotiations with police.
No one was hurt.
Kreutzer has been held in county jail since the trial ended, and she will be transported to state prison.
