If you’re going to decorate your car for the holidays, authorities want to remind you it is illegal to put decorative lights on your vehicle. You could get a ticket.

When it comes to shopping, be aware of your surroundings, make sure you are in a group, or if you’re alone, have security escort you to your car.

Keep valuables inside your car out of sight.

The holidays are also a time when people like to drink with friends and family. Officials urge you to plan a safe ride home. There is a free app from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee you can download to that will allow you to call a cab or ride share service and even review the consequences of impaired driving.
