Puppy Mill law now in effect, illegal for pet stores to sell dogs, cats, bunnies
The law prevents pet stores from selling dogs, cats, and bunnies.
Starting Sunday, it will be illegal for pet stores across the state to sell dogs, cats, and bunnies.
The Puppy Mill law, signed nearly a year ago, goes into effect on December 15.
It is designed to end the puppy mill-to-pet store pipeline and stop abusive breeders.
The law will also allow pet stores to charge animal shelters rent to use their space for adoptions.
The new bill does not stop pet stores from displaying animals from shelters.
The Pet Advocacy Network is calling on a judge to block the law.
