Moderate drinking can lower risk of heart disease, increase breast cancer chances

Report: Moderate drinking has benefits, drawbacks

A study says that moderate drinking is linked to a lower risk of death, but an increased risk of breast cancer.

A new report by the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine is revealing new data on whether drinking in moderation is better for you than not drinking at all.

According to the study, moderate drinking is linked to a lower risk of death from heart disease.

However, it’s also linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. This is the latest report on alcohol consumption questioning how much alcohol is safe to drink, as well as the link alcohol has to various types of cancer. The study comes ahead of next year’s expected update on the federal dietary guidelines on the recommended daily intake of alcohol.
