Hundreds rally in Albany against Trump’s deportation plan
Hundreds of people rallied at the state Capitol in Albany against President-elect Donald Trump’s deportation plans.
They’re urging the New York State Legislature and Gov. Kathy Hochul to pass four bills that would protect immigrant communities in New York, they said.
The bills are the New York for All Act, the Dignity Not Detention Act, the Access to Representation Act, and the Clemency Justice Act.
“Immigrants belong as members of our community and we must defend them as we would defend any other neighbor,” said Terry Diggory and Maxine Lindig Lautenberg, co-coordinators of the Saratoga Immigration Coalition, in a statement.
Wednesday is the first day of the legislative session.
Trump officially takes office on Jan. 20 at noon.
