Man gets 14 years for home invasion and assault

A Connecticut man was sentenced on Tuesday to 14 years in prison for entering a Wilton home and assaulting the resident with a knife.

Thomas A. Rivera, 31, of Naugatuck, had pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court in August to charges of burglary and criminal contempt. He was arrested on Feb. 8, 2024, after police said he entered the home without person struck the person. The victim had serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Another adult and two children were at home but were not hurt. An order of protection prohibited Rivera from being there.

Rivera also was sentenced to 5 years of post-release supervision.
