Cohoes man pleads guilty to DWI in police chase

A Cohoes man has admitted to driving drunk and leading police on a chase over three counties.

Steven L. Devlin, 42, was arrested on June 18, 2024. Sheriff’s deputies had tried to stop him just before 3:30 a.m. on Church Hill Road in the town of Halfmoon. Devlin stopped at first, but then took off and led police on a low-speed chase.

The chase went through Waterford, Troy and onto 787 in Cohoes before he eventually stopped. Devlin also hit a patrol vehicle on purpose, investigator said.

Devlin pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Wednesday to DWI and aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 12.
