Shaker High School Sophomore Ava Bachta is the Public High School Athletic Association alpine skiing state champion.

She won the state championship in slalom and alpine combined, and she placed second in giant slalom.

Colonie Town Supervisor Peter Crummey and the town board recently honored Ava for her incredible achievements.
