Duanesburg man captured, charged with manslaughter after search
A man suspected in a Guilderland suspicious death is facing a manslaughter charge.
Guilderland police said Sunday night Jason Seminary, 43, is in the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
Police spent several days searching for him, adding the Rotterdam Police Department assisted in the arrest after stopping Seminary in a vehicle.
Police said the manslaughter in the second degree charge stems from a domestic incident involving a fight on Thursday, December 23 at about 1:45 p.m. at a Guilderland home. Police say Seminary killed Kentish Bennett, 41. Bennett was brought to Albany Medical Center where he later died.
Bennett is also known as Kayla Stennet. Friends of Bennett’s tell NewsChannel 13 he was well-known in the LGBTQ community. Friend Darlene Pickett called him "A local drag legend and creative designer, singer and overall kind soul."
A vigil is planned for Bennett at 7:00 p.m. December 28 at 3771 Western Turnpike, Altamont, NY. Pickett said December 28 marks what would have been Bennett’s 42nd birthday.
