You may start seeing ads soon focused on subsidies given to New York’s horse racing industry.

The campaign to end horse racing subsidies enlisted the help of actress Edie Falco.

They want state leaders to redirect $230 million in state subsidies and other handouts to the horse racing industry in New York.

According to the state Gaming Commission, so far this calendar year, 17 horses have died at New York state racetracks. In 2021, 106 died. That’s New York state tracks only.

Legislation is pending in Albany to redirect those horse racing subsidies to education funding and to repeal generous tax breaks for the purchase of any horses that may be used for racing.
