With a new legislative session underway, there’s a push for state lawmakers to pass the "Medical Aid in Dying Act."

The message in a new ad from the aid in dying advocacy group Compassion and Choices says to "stop needless suffering."

The group is pushing for the passage of the "Medical Aid in Dying Act" here in New York.

This law would allow mentally capable adults who are terminally ill with six months or less to live, to request a prescription from their doctor that they can take when the suffering and pain just becomes too much.

Many versions of this bill have been introduced over the years.
