Albany County health commissioner honored for pandemic work

Albany County Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen was honored with the "Donald Led Duke Heart Hero Award."

The award recognizes people who work to make the Capital Region a better place to live.

Dr. Whalen is being honored for her work during the pandemic, and her longstanding commitment to heart and brain health.

She says the partnership between the Heart Association and the Albany County Health Department is essential.
