Albany County reports highest number of new cases since January

Albany County is reporting 299 new positive COVID cases. That’s the highest one-day jump since Jan. 12.

Two more county residents have died.

There are now 1,048 active cases in the county.

In addition, 61 county residents are currently hospitalized. Eight of those patients are in the ICU.

By comparison, on Jan. 12, when COVID vaccines were still not yet widely available, the hospitalization rate in Albany County was much higher. More than 150 people were in the hospital at that time.
