Albany County reports large rise in COVID percentages

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy says the county’s positivity rate has jumped from just over 3% to 13% over the last month.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy says the county’s positivity rate has jumped from just over 3% to 13% over the last month. A man in his 60s and a woman in her 90s have died.

There are 133 new cases within the past day. There are also 589 new infections in total since Friday.

The news comes as the county health department is strongly encouraging people to wear a mask indoors once again.

Right now, 74% of people eligible for the vaccine in Albany County are fully vaccinated, and 70% have received the booster shot.
