Albany police officers have voted to form an independent Police Benevolent Association.

Officers were represented by Council 82.

About 70% of eligible voters voted in favor of forming a PBA.

The results will now be certified, which could happen next month.

Then contract negotiations can finally resume with the city to give officers more competitive pay.
