ALBANY – There’s a new lease on life for the Central Warehouse in Albany.

Albany County legislators approved Redburn Development and Columbia Development to take on the renovation project.

The legislature unanimously approved the measure last night.

The Central Warehouse is a landmark, and it’s highly visible, but it’s been an eyesore for years.

When it was first built, it provided cold storage for food.

However, the 11-story building has been vacant, and sometimes a threat to safety.

There is no timeline yet on when any redevelopment would begin.
