American Academy of Pediatrics has new guidance for kids playing sports

The American Academy of Pediatrics has updated its guidance for children returning to sports and physical activity.

Experts encourage children ages 12 and older to be vaccinated as soon as possible, and then follow the Centers for Disease Control recommendations for fully vaccinated people.

The association says unvaccinated athletes should wear a facemask for all indoor activities, unless it poses a safety risk.

If they are outside, those who are not fully vaccinated should wear a facemask while on the sidelines or if there is sustained contact of three feet or less.
