Arrest made in Bennington Walmart hit-and-run

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Police say they have made an arrest in a hit-and-run at the Bennington Walmart.

Bennington police say Grant Bentley was taken into custody without incident at the Southgate Motel on Tuesday.

Police say he hit an elderly woman in the Walmart parking lot on January 10.

They say he checked on the woman, but then drove off.

Bentley is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury and aggravated assault.

He was also wanted by the Department of Corrections for a probation violation.
