Horse racing’s most lovable loser has died at his home in Greenfield Center.

Old Friends at Cabin Creek, a retirement home for thoroughbreds, says Zippy Chippy died over the weekend. He was nearly 31 years old.

The horse was winless in 100 career starts and retired from racing in 2004.

However, the gelding became famous for his personality and for putting on exhibitions – including one race versus a baseball player.

In retirement, he was the main character at the farm in Greenfield.
