TROY – Two teens are back from a trip to Texas with some new hardware.
They went to the Junior Olympics last week to compete in boxing.
Jadah Robinson, 15, and Devonte Harvey, 13, both won the bronze medal in their division, ranking 3rd in the country in their weight division.
Just going to the games, after not competing for so long because of COVID was huge.
Just getting back there again was challenging. The teenagers needed at least $2,000 each for the flight and hotel stay for the games in Lubbock, Texas. Through donations, they raised about $5,000.
"I was excited and then a little bit nervous, but then when I got in the ring, all of the nerves went away," said Devonte.
"I just feel like I did a great job. I feel like I could have done better, but I feel like just me being able to get in the ring was just something really big. It motivates me to just get back in the gym and keep going," said Jadah.
