Ten years ago this week, a storm was brewing and traveling up the East Coast.

Tropical Storm Irene destroyed parts of the Capital Region, and now, ten years later, some areas are still building back with great hopes for the future.

The flood waters moved in fast, sirens started blaring, and people literally ran for their lives. Every business was impacted.

Now, ten years later, Schoharie is still coming back, and open for business. There are new homes, some raised up several feet to avoid being hit by floods again.

On Thursday, NewsChannel 13 will take you back to some of the hardest hit areas like Schoharie, Middleburgh, and Prattsville and show you how those communities have recovered.

NewsChannel 13 will also give you a look at the new weather systems in place and how the Canal Corporatin has adjusted.
