Capital Region colleges relaxing mask mandates

A number of Capital Region colleges are relaxing their mask mandates.

University at Albany says masks are optional across campus except in classrooms, studios, and labs. That’s until March 28th — one week after students return from spring break. The campus does add it strongly recommends those who are unvaccinated or those who have not received a booster to wear a mask.

The College of Saint Rose is lifting its mask mandate next week. No masks are required in classrooms, events, or meetings. A mask is required if you become infected or exposed to COVID.

Skidmore is also letting the mandate expire on March 7. However, professors can require them in classrooms and offices if they choose. Skidmore does say everyone will be required to carry a mask that can be put on when necessary. Also allowed starting March 7, visitors to residence halls and faculty, staff, and visitors are allowed to dine in the dining hall.
