SCHENECTADY – Firefighters in Schenectady had to rescue a man Wednesday morning, after his car ended up in a sinkhole from a water main break. Luckily, the man wasn’t hurt.

It happened at Ellis Medicine’s McClellan Street Campus.

The calls for this came in around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

While the assistant fire chief told NewsChannel 13 around noontime Wednesday that significant progress had been made, there was still water coming from this break.

However, homeowners in the area say the water has receded quite a bit.

That break is also wreaking havoc on several nearby homes. Many are dealing with flooded basements and garages.

A National Grid substation was also flooded.
