Christian Challenge for Ukraine refugees

People in the Capital Region continue to open up their hearts and wallets to help people in Ukraine.

Two months ago the Diocesan Investment and Loan Trust in Albany donated $50,000. At the same time, it challenged parishes in the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese and other faith-based groups in the Capital Region to take part in a Christian challenge.

“I wasn’t surprised by the swift response. I was very surprised and so grateful that the amount of the response,” said Father David LeFort

As of May 11, the diocese has received more than $200,000 in donations.

The Diocesan Investment and Loan Trust is matching those donations up to $50,000.

In total, nearly $305,000 will be used to help provide shelter, hot meals and transportation for Ukrainian refugees.
