The city of Albany is working to combat vacant building and absentee landlords.

Assemblyman John McDonald says there needs to be many tools to address blight.

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan says there is new legislation that would speed up the process to condemn buildings that have become an eyesore.

Under this new law, city and county courts can handle these cases.

Officials say this will make it easier and quicker for local government to revitalize city neighborhoods.
