City of Schenectady lights up for the holidays

The City of Schenectady is planning to shine bright this holiday season.

City officials announced plans for their Inaugural "ILLUMINOCITY" Holiday Lighting Promotion.The mayor is inviting properties to light up their store fronts to celebrate the return of the Schenectady Holiday Parade.

Participating stores will be participating in a friendly, but competitive decorating contest. The public and a panel of judges will select the winners in a variety of categories.

“If you get out, walk about, there are GR codes to vote. We have a bunch of categories. It’s going to be great. The partnership between nonprofits and businesses and result in prizes going directly to nonprofits,” said Peter Gabak of the ILLUMINOCITY Planning Committee.

ILLUMINOCITY will have its big reveal the night of the Schenectady Holiday Parade on November 20th.
