Clifton Park man facing charges in Watervliet explosion case

A man from Clifton Park is accused of setting off an explosive device that damaged an SUV in Watervliet.
Watervliet police were called Sept. 24 to the area of Fourth Street and Seventh Avenue for a report of an explosion. They say their officers heard the blast from about a mile away.
After conducting a search in Clifton Park on Oct. 8, investigators arrested Robert Melendez and charged him with arson, criminal mischief, weapons possession and drug possession.
He was arraigned and sent to the Saratoga County Jail without bail.
