Coeymans man charged with assaulting customer at gas pump

A man from Coeymans is charged with assaulting another man outside a Stewart’s Shop on Feura Bush Road in the town of New Scotland.
Richard VanAlstyne turned himself in to Albany County sheriff’s investigators on Monday.
VanAlstyne is accused of approaching the other man who was pumping gas April 15, and punching him in the face, then kicking him when he was on the ground.
The victim was treated at Albany Med for broken ribs and bruises to his face.
There is no word yet on what led up to the attack.
