An EMT in Colonie is facing child pornography charges.

Police searched Tyges Besch’s home after a tip from the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Colonie Police seized several electronic devices. Colonie Police say they found an IP address that was downloading child porn. Police were able to match that IP address to Besch.

Besch was put on paid administrative leave. He is due back in court on Monday.

Police don’t think there are any local victims.

J. Michael Skiba is an international cyber crime expert. He says he has seen an uptick in child porn cases since the pandemic. Skiba says in cases like this, police will flag an IP address, so they are notified anytime there is inappropriate content.

Anyone with information is asked to call Colonie police at (518) 783-2754. You can also call Capital Region Crimestoppers at 1-833-ALB-TIPS, or go to capitalregioncrimestoppers.com.
