Colorado boxing gym provides safe space for kids to stay out of trouble

AURORA, Colo. – In a boxing gym in Aurora, Colorado, kids are learning how to love themselves by spreading kindness while throwing a punch.

Lumumba Sayers is a former MMA fighter. During his professional career in the ring, he protected himself.

He saw boxing as a way to help kids stay out of trouble.

With each instruction, boxing is giving kids a safe space.

The gym is part of a community center in Aurora that also offers music therapy and a place for kids to hang out and play video games.
