Cuomo calls for businesses to go vaccine-only

Gov. Cuomo has a suggestion for private businesses in New York – only allow in vaccinated customers. He made the recommendation during a news conference Monday morning.

“Private businesses, I am asking them, and suggesting to them, go to vaccine-only admission,” he said.

The governor advised bars and restaurants to ask people to show their Excelsior Pass when they walk in the door.

He cited Radio City Music Hall and large sports venues as examples of success stories when they adopted vaccine-only policies.

Cuomo also urged local governments to follow the latest CDC mask guidance. Under its revised recommendations issued last week, the CDC is advising everyone, including those vaccinated, to wear masks indoors in areas with substantial or high transmission of the coronavirus.

“It is up to the local governments. CDC doesn’t mandate local governments do it,” the governor said.

Cuomo explained that the state could not issue a mask mandate without a state law.
