Gov. Cuomo signed legislation allowing forest and state park rangers to carry EpiPens.

NewsChannel 13 has been reporting on efforts to make that happen.

EpiPens can be lifesavers for people suffering from bee stings, drug reactions, food allergies or hiking related shock.

Anaphylaxis occurs in about one in 50 Americans.

Until now, the state park rangers were not allowed to carry EpiPens.

This change comes as state parks and trails are seeing a record number of visitors compared to last year.
