A workshop in Saratoga Springs celebrated Black History Month through movement and dance.
The Joyful Resistance Dance Experience explored the history of jazz tap dance as a means of expression for those seeking a path to equality.
Led by Skidmore Dance Professor Tina Fretto, the master class was held at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga on Saturday.
Participants were led through a gentle warm-up that culminated in an energetic dance combination based in both jazz and tap.
The dance form has its origins in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, when African were brought to America.
