A popular downtown Albany store is opening a second location in Guilderland.

Fort Orange General Store, at 412 Broadway in Albany, will soon have an uptown location on Western Avenue.

Fort Orange is a locally-owned business, owned by Schuyler Bull, offering hand-picked home goods and gifts with an emphasis on handmade quality and design.

They feature the work of up-and-coming designers, artists, and small companies from around the Capital Region and the nation.

They will be celebrating their five-year anniversary of their downtown location this summer, and recently signed another five-year lease at that space.

Their uptown location will be opening on May 1 and will carry some of their more popular items.

The Guilderland location shares a space with a local salon, Studio 16 Sixty.

Both Fort Orange locations will be open 7 days a week. They’re online at fortorangegeneralstore.com.

"Fort Orange" was the first permanent Dutch settlement in New Netherland, the present-day home of Albany.
