Increased levels of physical activity appear to be linked to a lower risk of heart disease later in life.

Researchers looked at more than 3,000 Italians.

The greatest reduction in heart disease risk was seen in people who did more than 20 minutes of exercise each day.

The reduction was more pronounced at 70 years of age.

Doctors say even 20 minutes of physical activity can be very helpful at older ages.
