Former Berkshire County teacher pleads not guilty to sexually assaulting student

A former Berkshire County teacher has pleaded not guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a former student under the age of 16.
NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle report 60-year-old Peter Hirzel of Pownal, Vermont, was arraigned in Bennington Superior Court.
He is a former teacher at Pine Cobble Private School in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
The paper reports Hirzel befriended the victim during what was described as a "tough year" for the victim.
He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
