Gold Star mothers hold wreath laying ceremony in Albany

ALBANY – Local Gold Star mothers held a wreath laying at the Memorial Grove on New Scotland Avenue Thursday.

Flags and a wreath were placed at the Our Lady of Peace Monument.

Mothers who have lost their child in battle say the day is about supporting veterans of all wars.

"We really need to thank and let our veterans know they mattered. This is so important today. Every single one of them mattered," said Cindy Roberts, president of NY Gold Star Mothers.

Roberts says their mission is to support each other and spread kindness to other military families.
