The mission of the New York State Industries for the Disabled, also known as NYSID, is helping people with disabilities get employed and stay that way.

This week, NYSID announced more than $100,000 in grants to help businesses supporting that mission.

One of those businesses is Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam.

Liberty’s CEO Jennifer Saunders says about half of the employees that work in their manufacturing division have some form of disability.

"We manufacture products that we then sell to New York state agencies. We are a preferred source employer, which means that we employ primarily people with disabilities," explained Saunders.
