Greene County stores install Narcan boxes to help fight drug overdoses

To combat a rise in drug overdoses in Greene County, Narcan boxes have been installed in different businesses and organizations.

One of those places is the Wellness Rx pharmacy in Tannersville.

The idea behind the Narcan boxes is to make it easier for people to get Narcan.

The Mountain Top Cares Coalition is behind this effort. They are a nonprofit that assists people dealing with addiction.

At the Wellness Rx Pharmacy in Tannersville, the Narcan box is towards the front of the store. This gives people easy access to the Narcan kits.

Four other places in Greene County also have Narcan boxes. Inside the box, you will find everything needed to assist someone who is dealing with an overdose.

People can stop by and pick up Narcan kits without asking anyone. According to the Mountain Top Cares Coalition, there were 128 overdoses and 17 overdose deaths in 2021 in Greene County. The non-profit wants to lower those numbers.
