Guilderland may be having second thoughts about banning marijuana dispensaries.

The town opted out of the newly legalized recreational marijuana industry back in October.

Since then, two new members joined. So the town board decided to revisit the issue.

There is a public hearing set for April 5 on a proposed local law that would allow marijuana retail dispensaries in town.

The upcoming hearing is to schedule an actual public hearing — not to vote whether to opt in.

One board member voiced concerns. She wants to establish regulations about where those dispensaries would be located before deciding to opt back in.

Of the 4% sales tax on retail cannabis products, 3% would go to the town and 1% would go to Albany County.
