Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $234 million in funding for food assistance to New Yorkers on Friday.

All New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program will now receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for the month of June.

Recent studies show 14% of New Yorkers relied on these benefits last year.

This spring, more than 1.6 million households enrolled in the SNAP program.
