Gov. Hochul gave an update on COVID cases in New York state. She says the number of cases statewide continue to increase, hospitalizations are escalating, and vaccinations are flattening.

The governor also says people are underestimating omicron.

"You may only have 1% of people infected hospitalized versus 10% from delta, but if you have a million more people infected because it spreads so much more quickly, that means you’ll have overflowing hospitals," said Hochul.

The governor says 71 New Yorkers died from COVID on Wednesday.
