Gov. Hochul has signed a package of bills into law aimed at helping independent pharmacies.

The new law provides protections from prescription drug middlemen, known as pharmacy benefit managers.

Those managers currently make pharmacies sign a contract to stay in network to sell prescriptions.

Hundreds of pharmacists rallied in Albany last October asking the governor to sign the bills.
