Housing advocates were rallying Tuesday in cities across New York, including outside the state Capitol in Albany. They are pushing for a package of new bills to protect tenants.

The eviction moratorium will end early next year.

One lawmaker says the threat of homelessness affects both adults and children.

"Family stability is critical. We know that when a child is homeless, they fall six months behind in their education. We can’t let that continue," said Democratic Assemblyman Harvey Epstein from Manhattan.

Gov. Hochul announced additional funding for legal help for tenants dealing with housing problems.
