Icy weather knocks out power to thousands of customers

The sleet and ice have knocked out power to many NYSEG customers in Columbia County, which got hit particularly hard by freezing rain.

NewsChannel 13 crews saw a lot of ice covering the branches, and a lot of them just came down.

When those branches come down, they are often taking power lines with them.

However, a check of National Grid’s power outage numbers on Friday evening showed nothing significant.
