Inside Albany’s Wadsworth Lab as they search for omicron

ALBANY – There are 38 confirmed cases of the omicron variant across New York state. As of right now, there are no confirmed cases of this variant here in the Capital Region.

At Wadsworth Lab in Albany, 30 scientists are researching and studying COVID samples from across the state, using state of the art technology.

Positive COVID samples – especially with high level of virus, go through sequencing at the lab to determine what variant it is.
