Rensselaer County will have to increase access to early voting sites in communities of color. That is the ruling by a Rensselaer County Supreme Court judge.

As NewsChannel 13 reported last month, State Attorney General Letitia James sued the Rensselaer County Board of Elections.

The lawsuit claimed Commissioners Jason Schofield and Edward McDonough failed to provide voters with adequate access to early voting sites last fall. The judge agreed.

The Board of Elections will now have to select a site by this Wednesday that would provide Troy voters with reasonable access to early voting poll sites.

The early voting period for the state primary election is June 12 through June 20.
