Long-term care advocates want National Guard to help with staffing

Advocates for long-term care and nursing home residents say it’s time to call on the National Guard again to address the ongoing catastrophic staffing shortage.

Gov. Hochul made the call last month to send guard members into facilities that were losing staff to spiking COVID infections.

A group called Essential Care Visitor says it didn’t go far enough, and the problem is only getting worse.
