Malta man admits to stealing $141,000 in unemployment benefits

A man from Malta now admits he stole more than $141,000 in unemployment benefits during the pandemic.

Matthew Baldwin assumed the identity of several people and applied for the benefits in their names.

He pleaded guilty Monday to grand larceny.

Baldwin will spend 1 2/3 to five years in state prison and has to pay back the money to the New York State Labor Department.
